costume + textiles curator Kaye D. Spilker discusses the enormous role Los Angeles, and Hollywood, played in the development, design, + innovation in American sportswear from the 1930s to the 1960s.

in conjunction with LACMA’s exhibit, California Design, 1930–1965: "Living in a Modern Way.” the first major study of California midcentury modern design; with over 300 objects, including furniture, ceramics, metalwork, fashion, textiles, industrial and graphic design. the exhibition examines California’s role in shaping the material culture of the entire country.    lacma
